I was born in Augusta, GA but grew up in Asheville, NC where I attended the University of North Carolina—Asheville. During my time in college, I had the privilege of learning news writing from Cathy Mitchell, Pulitzer Prize recipient for investigative journalism with a small newspaper she and her husband owned called The Point Reyes Light. Dr. Mitchell was an inspiration who drilled AP Style into me like holes in a paddle. Her class really taught me more about discipline than just about anything.
During college, I wrote artist profiles for an independent newspaper and began writing commercials for car dealerships. The automotive industry launched my career and gave me experience in broadcast television as I frequently worked as on—camera spokesperson for dealerships throughout the East Coast. It wasn't a glamorous job by any means, but paid the bills and led to bigger opportunities to co—produce music videos and work with amazing people at Atlantic Records.
After graduating with a B.A. in mass communication, I learned how to code and fell in love with the Joomla content management system platform. Since then, I've combined my experience in writing, research, video production and web design to help regional and national organizations establish top media placement on Google, in print and on television.
